GOLD STANDARD UPDATE

The North-East Lincolnshire Gold Standard for Information, Advice & Guidance has been accepted by 'The Quality in Careers Standard Board' and is now working towards the national validation for CEIAG Quality Awards - The Quality in Careers Standard.

The aim of the Standard is to raise the quality of the foundations which schools, colleges and work-based learning providers establish to assist young people to prepare for their future learning and work career pathways.

 

Careers Fair at Grimsby Auditorium: Monday 2nd July 2012   The second annual Careers Fair for year 10 pupils in North-East Lincolnshire will take place again this year from 9am to 3pm. There will be transport provided for Academies/schools to bring pupils to the event. Two new websites have been added on to Lincs2, www.careerpilot.org.uk that looks at choices at 14,16 and 18 which explores different job sectors and how you can study and work at the same time. The second site is www.tomorrowsengineers.org.uk and is a one-stop shop for information and resources about the amazing careers available in engineering.

Skills Explorer is a free new way for students to connect with the extensive Careersbox library of world of work and job profile films and videos. Skills Explorer supports classroom, workshop and one to one career discussions with tailor made talking points, learning opportunities and next steps for students, careers advisors and teachers alike http://www.careersbox.co.uk/skillsexplorer/

  

Young People's Careers Helpline - New September 2011

The helpline offers information, advice and support on a range of issues affecting young people

Career profiles, careers information and advice for both young people and adults is available from the Next Step service. Young people wanting additional information or advice can still make direct contact with an adviser to discuss careers, work and learning.

The Directgov website provides a link to all these helpline channels which can be accessed via email, webchat and telephone.

Support is avilable from trained advisers who will talk through issues, offering confidential advice and practical help. So that young people can talk to an adviser at a time that suits them. Advisers are available from 8.00am to 10.00pm, seven days a week, telephone 0800 001 900 or for text messages on 0776 641 3219.
