The Diploma is a new qualification combining theoretical study with practical experience. Students will gain skills and knowledge related to the line they choose as well as personal, learning and thinking skills. The Diploma offers a fully-rounded education without limiting future options. It has been developed with employers and higher education to deliver the skills and knowledge they look for. |

Additional and Specialist Learning: These are options young people pick. It could be to do with the kind of job or university course they want to get into or even a hobby Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills: This is where they learn about things like team working, being creative, studying and organising themselves Project: This is about creating something to show what they've learnt. It can be about anything that interests them Work Experience: This is where they spend time with an employer, learning what it's like to be in the work place. They will have at least ten days experience |
Functional Skills: The English, Maths and ICT they need for everyday life Principal Learning: This is the part about their chosen Diploma line. It teaches them the main things they need to know about it |

The Diploma will be one of the three main education choices alongside GCSEs/A levels and Apprenticeships. It will appeal to students of all abilities and aspirations who like to learn in ways relating to real life. The Diploma will be available at three different levels:

The Goverment is introducing a reform programme for all students aged 14 - 19 over the next five years. North East Lincolnshire is at the forefront of this programme, equipping young people with the skills and experience to thrive in the fast changing world they grow up in. The reforms offer a wider choice of qualifications, with flexible learning paths to suit the demands of young people. The Diploma is part of this programme, which includes:

Students will study at their base school three days a week and travel to other schools, colleges, employers and partners for some elements. For example, a student based at Whitgift School, in North East Lincolnshire, taking The Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design may travel to Franklin College, The Grimsby Insitute and Youngs Seafood for different parts of the course. |
