About: Sixth Form students at Havelock will have a completely new experience of Sixth Form life, and join us at an exciting time of transition. You will take responsibility for the leadership of a House and, with a small group of peers, will be uniquely involved in the planning and development of the Academy's life over the next two years. Our aim is to ensure that you have every support and an individually framed strategy, agreed with you, to take you to the next stage of your career. You can expect as a leader of this changing community to influence and shape its life.

Each Sixth Form student is allocated a Personal House Tutor who is available to discuss academic and other issues with you, and to help guide you in your future choices. The tutor, together with the Guidance Team, will also monitor your progress throughout the Sixth Form and act as a channel of communication between the Academy and your parents.

Havelock Academy Sixth Form students will be: Enterprising, Inspiring, Organised, Confident, Friendly, Thoughtful, Independent, Enthusiastic, Courageous, Globally Minded, Hard-working, Compassionate, Considerate, Courteous Leaders.

Additional Information: The Houses are responsible for developing a co-curriculum which will provide many new opportunities for students. The first coordinated offer of such activities is now under way.

The Academy encourages Enterprise in all its students. A number of activities in the administration and co-curricular programmes will support this, including the Uniform Shop, the Bicycle Store, the Farm Project and, as the Sixth Form expands, Young Enterprise.

The key to Sixth Form involvement in co-curricular activities is the emphasis placed on leadership. All Sixth Form students will be encouraged to lead others, develop their initiative and decision-making skills and exercise good judgement. The formal opportunities to lead in Houses through prefectship and other responsibilities will also be complemented by more informal activities, such as mentoring and peer-led education projects.

Enterprise projects for the Sixth Form centre on the ways experienced business and other professional mentors can guide our young people. Work experience placements and Young Enterprise projects provide a basis for this aspect of learning, but students will also be encouraged to participate in and develop projects for the "real world" around the Academy's specialisms.

Sixth formers spend a whole day in September focusing on developing their social enterprise skills. The day is run by Inc. within the efactor team who work to create enterprise and employment. Sixth formers create a viable business plan focusing on how to raise additional funds for their house charities.
