Case Study 1
A short while after joining the 6th Form, all students have a transitional review. This is a meeting for students, parents/guardians, school and representatives from Connexions (formally careers/further education advisor) health/social services if applicable. This meeting is held in order to plan for future provisions dependant upon what the particular student wishes for their own future, this may be to further their education locally at Grimsby College for further education, a student may be referred to local adult day service i.e. Queen Street or a student may choose a mixture of both. Some students as many young adults do choose to further education at colleges further a field, these are often Residential Colleges and cater for a particular individuals needs. They may decide to look for work in a particular field/area of interest. Dependent upon their decision we will put an Individual Plan together and offer individual advice in order to achieve their particular Goal/Options. This transition Plan will be reviewed Bi Annually in order to remain on track/take on board changes that individuals may want.
Case Study 2
We have a broad, balanced curriculum. Pupils have access to music, humanities, art, food technology, design and technology, PE, personal and social health education. We deliver these sessions in blocks of time over a two year cycle at each key stage. Modules have been developed which describe the content of these sessions across a half term. Pupil's experiences are enriched through visits, performances and events held in school. Our 6th form residential trip to Butlins was a huge success.
