the free distance learning Level 1 ,Mental Health Awareness course is designed for anyone looking to develop their understanding of mental health and the causes of mental distress.

Course Details

Recognising signs in common childhood illnesses is important to prevent further complications with babies and young children. Being able to recognise these signs and understand the actions to take should this occur can drastically improve the life of a baby and young child. The course aims to provide the actions to take, symptoms you should be aware of in young children and babies and how to provide a healthy safe environment for them to prevent certain illnesses from starting.

The following units are covered on the free distance learning Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Common Illnesses Affecting Children course:

Unit 1 -Principles of safe and healthy environments for babies and young children

Unit 2 – Policies and procedures relating to safe and healthy environments for babies and young children

Unit 3 – Knowledge of common childhood illnesses

Unit 4 – Understanding health emergencies and health conditions in early years setting

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets, typed using electronic templates, which are provided at induction, or typed using our fully online EQUAL platform. Candidates are issued with workbooks or online materials to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 3 assessments each taking 4 weeks to complete.

Entry requirements

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.
