Course Summary
This course provides information on the early development on the brain of children from birth to age 7. The course covers social brain development, the limbic system and self regulation. This is aimed at anyone who wants to or currently works in an early years setting or has an interest in how with brain develops and how outside influences can affect it.
Not only will you learn the theory, you will also be given practical advice in how to promote healthy brain development and how to support the development of self regulation skills to help with emotions such as anger, fear and sadness in a child up to the age of 7 years. The new early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework includes self regulations as a learning goal.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets or typed using electronic templates which are provided at induction. Candidates are issued with workbooks to assist with assessments.
You will be required to submit 2 assessments each taking 4 weeks to complete.
Entry requirements
Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.
If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.
We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.
