Course Summary

This free Distance Learning Level 2 in Understanding Personal Care Needs course is suited to someone who wants to gain specialist knowledge in personal care.

It is ideal for someone who works in Health or Social Care. Due to the amount of people who require assistance with their personal care in order to live a comfortable life, this course gives you the knowledge to deliver a Person-centred approach in the following areas: Understanding person-centred care, personal hygiene, foot care, oral health, Pressure area care and Sepsis.

Course Details

The following mandatory units are covered in the course:

Unit 1 – Understand person centred care

Unit 2 – Understand how to support personal hygiene

Unit 3 – Understand foot care for individuals

Unit 4 – Understand how to support individuals to maintain oral health

Unit 5 – Understand pressure area care

Unit 6 – Understand Sepsis

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets, or typed using electronic templates, which are provided at induction. Candidates are issued with workbooks to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 2 assessments each taking 6 weeks to complete.

Entry requirements

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you. If you are unsure of your level of literacy, please let us know.
