Course Summary

The free distance learning Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Care Planning course is designed for learners who are looking to enter into or progress within employment in a variety of sectors and job roles where an understanding of care planning is required.

You will learn about the principles and practice of person-centered thinking, planning and reviews and gain a knowledge and understanding required to facilitate working with individuals to carry out activities specified in their care or support plan.

The course also provides information about the importance of nutrition and hydration for promoting health and well being, how to support individuals to sleep, the underpinning knowledge for supporting individuals in maintaining personal hygiene and managing continence.

Course Details

The free distance learning Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Care Planning course is made up of six units:

Unit 1 Understanding person-centered thinking and planning

Unit 2 Care planning for the care worker

Unit 3 Understanding nutrition and hydration in health and social care settings

Unit 4 Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene

Unit 5 Understanding continence care

Unit 6 Principles of supporting sleep

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets or typed using electronic templates which are provided at induction. Candidates are issued with workbooks to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 3 assessments each taking 4 weeks to complete

Entry requirements

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.
