Course Summary

The purpose of the free distance learning Level 2 Certificate Understanding Behaviour that Challenges course is to equip learners with an understanding of the common causes and triggers of behaviour that challenges. Learners will also develop an understanding of effective communication skills and de-escalation techniques.

Course Details

The free distance learning Level 2 Certificate Understanding Behaviour that Challenges course covers techniques for dealing with challenging behaviour in the most appropriate way, why challenging behaviour may occur and the importance of effective communication and personal reflection following an episode of behaviour that challenges.

You will study the following modules:

Module A

Unit 01 Understand behaviour that challenges

Unit 02 Understand how to support positive behaviour

Module B

Unit 03 Understand the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges

Unit 04 Understand the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets or typed using electronic templates which are provided at induction. Candidates are issued with workbooks to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 2 assessments each taking 4 weeks to complete.

Entry requirements

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.
