Course Summary

This course aims to increase understanding, awareness and the impact of domestic abuse. You will learn how to report incidents, identify those at risk and how to signpost to the relevant services available. This course is suitable for anyone responding to, or supporting anyone experiencing domestic abuse. Those involved in safeguarding, for example employers, teachers or social care workers would benefit from this course.

The following units are covered in the free distance learning Level 2 certificate in Understanding Domestic Abuse course:

Unit 1: Understanding Domestic Abuse

Unit 2: Understand the signs and risk factors associated with domestic abuse.

Unit 3: Understand the impact of domestic abuse.

Unit 4: Understand policy, response, and intervention in relation to domestic abuse.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets or typed using electronic templates which are provided at induction. Candidates are issued with workbooks to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 2 assessments first one taking 4 weeks and the last one taking 6 weeks to complete.

Entry requirements

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.
