Course Summary

The free distance learning Level 2 Understanding Retail Operations course aims to provide an introduction to the retail industry to those new to or seeking employment in this area. It helps learners develop an understanding of the different aspects of working in the retail sector and prepares learners for progression into a range of higher level qualifications within the sector, including more practical qualifications where their knowledge can be put into practice.

On the distance learning Understanding Retail Operations course, learners will gain an understanding of customer service in the retail sector and an understanding of the retail selling process. Learners will examine how individuals and teams contribute to the effectiveness of a retail business, how a retail business maintains health and safety on its premises and develop knowledge of retail consumer law.

Another area is learning how to deal with customer queries and complaints in a retail environment, modules will also cover understanding the handling of customer payments in a retail business and the control, receipt and storage of stock.

Course Details

On the free distance learning Level 2 Understanding Retail Operations course, learners will gain an understanding of customer service in the retail sector and an understanding of the retail selling process. Learners will examine how individuals and teams contribute to the effectiveness of a retail business, how a retail business maintains health and safety on its premises and develop knowledge of retail consumer law.

Understand how to deal with customer queries and complaints in a retail environment modules will also cover understanding the handling of customer payments in a retail business and the control, receipt and storage of stock.

Unit 2: Understanding the retail selling process

Unit 3: Understanding how individuals and teams contribute to the effectiveness of the retail business

Unit 4: Understand how a retail business maintains health and safety on its premises

Unit 5: Understand retail consumer law

Unit 6: Understand how to deal with customer queries and complaints in a retail environment

Unit 7: Understand the handling of customer payments in a retail environment

Unit 8: Understand the control, receipt and storage of stock in a retail business

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets, typed using electronic templates, which are provided at induction, or typed using our fully online EQUAL platform. Candidates are issued with workbooks or online materials to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 4 written assessments each taking 4 weeks to complete.

Entry requirements

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.
