Course Summary
The free distance learning Level 2 Understanding Working with People with Mental Health Needs course aims to raise awareness of the role of the mental health worker and the process and approaches involved in the care and support of those who experience mental ill-health.
You will learn modules such as, the role of the mental health worker, mental health issues, duty of care, management in mental health and understanding change and support in relation to mental health.
Course Details
The objective of the free distance learning Level 2 Understanding Working with People with Mental Health Needs course is to give learners working in a health or social care context, an understanding of approaches to supporting those with mental health needs. It will also enable learners to progress to other qualifications in health care and social care.
The course is divided in to five units as follows:
Unit 01: Understand the role of the mental health worker
Unit 02: Mental health and mental health issues
Unit 03: Understand duty of care in adult health and social care
Unit 04: Approaches to care and management in mental health
Unit 05: Understanding change and support in relation to mental health
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets or typed using electronic templates which are provided at induction. Candidates are issued with workbooks to assist with assessments.
You will be required to submit 2 assessments each taking 4 weeks to complete.
Entry requirements
Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.
If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.
We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.
