Course Summary

This course will provide an overview of the principles of sustainable development, communities and energy management, and the social responsibility of business in relation to sustainability. Learners will also look at the principles of waste management and sustainable transport and applying sustainability in their own setting through zero waste. There is also opportunity for the individual to look at the principles of sustainability in their own setting.

The following units are covered in the free distance learning Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Environmental Sustainability course:

Unit 1: Principles of sustainable communities

Unit 2: Principles of sustainable development

Unit 3: Principles of sustainable energy management

Unit 4: Principles of sustainable transport

Unit 5: Principles of waste management

Unit 6: Social responsibility of businesses in relation to sustainability

Unit 7: Sustainability applied in own setting – This is an optional unit and will not be certificated.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The free distance learning Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Environmental Sustainability course is assessed in the following way:

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses will be typed using our fully online EQUAL platform. Candidates are issued with online materials to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 6 assessments each taking 2 weeks to complete.

The optional 7th unit is auto marked.

Entry requirements

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.
