Art and Design Level 3

Our Grimsby School of Art at the Nuns Corner Campus is packed full of specialist facilities including a photography studio, a print room for etching, silkscreen or relief printing and studios for ceramics, graphic design and fashion, you will truly be spoilt for ways to express your creativity.

The Level 3 Art and Design Diploma is split over two years and covers a variety of projects that develops different disciplines, fine art and drawing, fashion and textiles, graphic design and animation, ceramics, 3D/ sculpting and print. Planning and organization, innovation, self expression and discipline are promoted through a greater degree of independency in learners final projects.

Year One: The Creative Process and Developing Creative Practice: this is an introduction to core skills, solving problems within art and design and exploring and documenting the creative industry and own progression. Responding to a set brief – learners devise a final major project according to their specialist areas, this is a 10-week project and is displayed in a public exhibition.

Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process. The following is a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course.

Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 (previously C) or above including Math's and English language OR Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including Math's and English language and relevant subject qualification OR Minimum of Level 2 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English language and Math's at level 2 and a portfolio of Artwork at interview.

Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby or other other University.
