Electrical Installation Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships are an ideal way to earn and learn, as an Apprentice you are fully employed and will have one of our industry experienced work based trainers visiting you in your workplace. You will attend the Grimsby Institute one day a week from your employer where you will study for your qualification and gain valuable underpinning knowledge about your area of work. As an Apprentice you will have access to the Institute facilities as well as ongoing support and guidance. In order to do an Apprenticeship you need a job as well as a training provider - you can apply for vacancies by sending your CV to employers to ask if they would be willing to take you on as an Apprentice. If successful you can then contact us telling us who the employer is and their contact details so we can make the arrangements for you to be assessed and speak to the employer. You can also apply for vacancies at www.apprenticeships.gov.uk. If you complete a Lincs2 application form for an apprenticeship expressing an interest in an apprenticeship we will contact you to advise you about contacting employers and using the apprenticeships website to look for vacancies. Most apprenticeships require a minimum of GCSE grade 4 or equivalent in English, Maths and ICT although the employers are the ones that set the entry requirements. If you are enrolled onto an apprenticeship without having the right Maths and English quals, you will need to complete L2 Functional Skills for Maths and English before you are able to complete your apprenticeship. As this apprenticeship is heavily relied on good maths and english skills to remain safe and complete the work properly so it is advised to apply for this apprenticeship route if you feel competent in your Maths and English abilities.
