Course Summary

Electrical Installation is a suitable course for students interested in domestic electrical work or working with data cabling or telecommunications.

Course Details

From wiring a plug to rewiring a house, we will set you on a rewarding career path into the world of Electrical Installation. Our experienced and industry qualified team can guide you with an engaging mix of workshop tasks and classroom activities.
You will learn how electrical circuits work, how to build them, and most importantly how to do it safely. Regardless of which level you join us at you will learn valuable technical and practical skills in order for you to gain industry-recognised qualifications. Key areas that will be covered include: Health and Safety, Terminations and Conductors, Containment Systems, Scientific Principles and transferrable skills such as writing quotations, risk assessments, method statements and accounting.

Additionally, we organise trips to see how cables are made and how electrical waste is recycled, and we have even been known to go paintballing! We regularly have guest speakers from the electrical world, and our competitions are judged by local electrical firms (the same people you might be working alongside on your work experience!)

How will it be delivered and assessed?

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.
