Course Summary
A career in Heath and Social Care is one of the most rewarding ways to spend your working life. Our Health and Social Care team come with a wealth of industry-based experience and you will be prepared for a worthwhile and challenging career.
Course Details
This level 3 course will enable you to gain a broad understanding of working in Health or Social Care - you will choose which area in which to specialise. You will develop skills, knowledge and understanding and have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way. You will follow a programme of study that enables progression to both higher education and employment in health sectors and you will develop key skills that are highly valued by employers and universities.
Work Experience in appropriate settings forms a large part of this course preparing students for future work. This is a fast-paced and changing sector, health and social care professionals need to be proactive and flexible - we will prepare you for this. Essential for our growing and aging population, you will earn about all aspects of care for both adults and children, covering topics that include life stages, public health, physiological disorder, anatomy and physiology, equality, diversity and rights in care work, values and planning and supporting and protecting adults. There will be classroom learning as well as the chance to get first hand practical experience gaining an insight into working in a hospital in our clinical skills room with hospital beds and life like simulated patients.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.
Entry requirements
Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process.
The following is a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course
5 GCSE grade 4 or equivalent including math's, English and science.
Your next steps...
Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby or other other University.
