L1 DIP INTRO TO THE HAIR SECTOR

Studying for a vocational qualification is a practical option and you will learn from tutors who are industry specialists with great facilities in the professionally equipped beauty therapy rooms in the Graduate Salon at the Nuns Corner Campus.

Learners will get to study in our realistic and well-equipped therapy rooms which will allow you to experience salon-life under the guidance of our highly-trained, inspirational tutors. A typical day of study could see you learning about manicures and nail art, skin treatments and creating individual looks.

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.

Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process. As a guide you might be expected to achieve GCSEs grade 1-2 or equivalent, including Foundation Awards and Entry Level Certificates.

Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby such as Special Effects Make up and Prosthetics.
