Course Summary

Learners will be working on a full-time Study Programme which includes; Level 2 Certificate in Vehicle Component Fitting, work experience in a garage, Maths and English GCSE qualifications if needed and personal, social development training.

This programme gives learners a wide range of knowledge and hands on practical skills from working in our state of the art workshop. It supports the learner's to hopefully progress onto an Apprenticeship standard within the motor vehicle industry (Light vehicles or Auto Care).

Course Details

Learners will study the Level 2 Certificate in Vehicle Component Fitting and develop their knowledge of:

  • Health, safety and good housekeeping in the automotive environment
  • Removal and fitting of basic light vehicle mechanical, electrical and trim (MET) components and non permanently fixed vehicle body panels.

You will also have to opportunity to develop their knowledge of:

  • Materials, fabrication, tools, equipment and measuring devices in the automotive environment
  • Systems, components and operation of spark ignition engines and compression ignition engine systems
  • Inspection and replacement of light vehicle:
    • Exhaust components
    • Vehicle batteries and related components
    • Suspension dampers and springs
    • Braking systems and components

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There are a number of written assessments, online assessments and practical workshop tasks and assessments.

Start dates may be flexible e.g. September - January.

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualifications required to commence this course however a good level of Maths and English would be an advantage. If learners do not already hold Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent, they will have the opportunity to re-sit within the course.

Candidates will be assessed on an individual basis and will need to attend an selection assessment session before being accepted onto the course - on application you will be invited to the next available selection assessment session.

This course supports the learner's to progress into the retail motor vehicle industry and to a Level 2 or 3 Apprenticeship standard within the motor industry.
