Course Details

The photography industry is always on the lookout for fresh new talent and this course will teach you everything you need to know to be a professional photographer. Past learners have even started their own freelance companies and successful businesses.

You’ll study lots of different aspects of photography on this course, including its history and how to work in a darkroom. You’ll also learn how to produce powerful images, developing your understanding of visual communication.

The darkroom process is so cool, you’ll be able to take a picture and process it from start to finish. You can make your projects whatever you want them to be, from studios to shooting on location. You’ll also learn Photoshop skills, ensuring that your work is the best it can be!

Studies are both academic and practical, using our traditional multi-grade and multi-format darkroom for analogue photographic prints, which is matched by outstanding digital photographic equipment for you to use on a daily basis. We work with, Clifton's Dance academy, Theatre Royal Lincoln, North and North East Lincolnshire Business Awards and ABP. This involves discussing and understanding client briefs, working directly with customers whilst photographing or recording content for client consumption.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.
