Course Summary

Our L2 Refrigeration course cover everything from equipment and materials to techniques and planning to health and safety. Get ready for work in this valued and in-demand trade-in realistic working environment with industry-experienced staff. Up-to-date resources will enhance practical and theory sessions where you will learn about the principles of Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning and Heat Pump systems, the importance of pressure, pipe joining techniques, electrical supplies and how to safely use refrigerant. Customer relations and environmental considerations are also covered as part of the course as are the principles of working safely in the environment.

Course Details

The tutors are all qualified engineers and have multiple years industry experience, so they can give you great insight into what it’s like to make a living in the trade. They’ll also be able to teach you key hand skills and the use of tools and equipment used in the industry.

This qualification is aimed at new entrants to the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry who wish to be trained in the skills and knowledge associated with basic and complex refrigeration systems which includes the routine maintenance, reactive maintenance and commissioning and de-commissioning of refrigeration systems in a variety of working environments

With this course, you get to get stuck in and have a go for yourself, alongside the theory needed to give you the knowledge for your future as a refrigeration/ air conditioning engineer.

Your study programme is tailored around you to include units about the future technology of the industry, employability skills, and personal development as well as learning some welding skills.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This is assessed via a combination of practical assessments and online assessments.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 (previously C) or above including Maths and English language.

Equipment required

PPE - flame retardant overalls and steel-toe-cap boots
