Creating Positive Opportunity
Centre4, 17a Wootton Road, Grimsby, DN33 1HE
About us
Creating Positive Opportunity is a social enterprise which specialises in creating positive opportunities for the local community. We currently work with adult community members who won’t engage with traditional learning, and NEETs – including lone parents. We offer a range of training in order to give individuals who are often deemed ‘as the hardest to reach’ the opportunity to reengage with learning and/or work.
Creating Positive Opportunity's Traineeship Programme is contracted through HLC and is co-financed by the ESF. Entitled ‘No Train, No Gain’ this programme offers Traineeships to those aged 16 – 18 and to 19 – 24 year olds. A mix of employability skills – through the Humber LEP Employability Skills Passport and functional skills, where necessary, run alongside a work placement – minimum 70 hours.
Working across a wide range of sectors our programme supports young people who are ready to move into work but need bespoke support to achieve this aim. Progression destinations, supported by our partners, see our learners moving into Apprenticeships, Kickstarts and full time employment.
Participants must be aged 16-24 and not qualified above a Level 3 to be eligible. They must also be unemployed or work less than 16 hours per week.
Alongside this, we work to improve the skills of unemployed individuals throughout the region, at a level that suits their own ability. We improve employability through confidence building, mock interviews and CV advice, along with job searching support. Creating Positive opportunity is a UKOnline Centre, which means that we’re here to help make going online easy!
We run a Building Better Opportunities programme specifically for unemployed individuals ages 25+. In addition to this, in September 2017 we launched our new Grimsby Full Families project along with CatZero, allowing us to offer support to the whole family as well as just individuals.

What makes us different?
We completely tailor our support to each individual we work with, and everyone who engages with any of our employability projects becomes eligible for access to the community Shop and gym at Centre4.
