Course Summary
As an apprentice you will have a job and earn a wage whilst building up knowledge and skills within the animal care industry. These apprenticeships are a framework of qualifications made up of a Diploma in Work-Based Animal Care, Functional Skills, Employee Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS).
Course Details
- Safety and security of the workplace
- Planning for the health and welfare of animals
- Planning the handling and restraint of animals
- Maintaining the behaviour, health and welfare of animals.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Formal training for all qualifications is delivered within the college. College attendance is required by day release during term time. Out of term time you will be at work on your allocated college day unless days off are changed or holidays are taken. Training at work may be formal or informal – as required during the working day.
Entry requirements
You must have achieved a Level 2 qualification in Animal Care and have GCSE English and Maths at grade C or 4 or equivalent. You must also pass an initial assessment, secure work as an apprentice and have one satisfactory reference.
