Applied (Biomedical) Science is your gateway to understanding how science works in the real world. This course brings biology, chemistry, and physics to life through hands-on experiments and practical investigations, all set in our fully equipped laboratories. The course takes a hands-on approach, with plenty of opportunities to carry out experiments and investigations in our state-of-the-art laboratories.

You’ll explore a wide range of topics, including the applications of organic chemistry, the physiology of human body systems, science investigation skills, and essential laboratory techniques. With mathematical elements woven throughout, each unit is designed to build your confidence, sharpen your analytical thinking, and prepare you for success – whether you’re aiming for university or a career in the science and healthcare industries.

University degrees such as the BSc (Hons) Psychology at the University Centre Grimsby, or programmes at other universities studying; Nursing, Radiography, Biomedical Science, Paramedic Science, or even Dental Nursing

Higher apprenticeships in healthcare science or laboratory roles

Careers – you could progress to careers such as biomedical scientist, lab technician, healthcare science assistant, phlebotomist, radiography assistant, dental nurse, paramedic, or research technician, often after further study or training.
