Hairdressing Professional Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard

As part of the programme, you will complete the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required to achieve the apprenticeship standard:

Knowledge

• Professionalism and Values
• Behaviours and Communication
• Safe Working Practices
• Consultation

Skills

• Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
• Cut hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
• Style and finish hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
• Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques

You will choose one optional unit from:

• Perming Hair
• Hair relaxing treatments and techniques,
• Hair extension services.

As part of the Level 2 Hairdressing Professional apprenticeship standard, you will learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours which will support you for your end-point assessment. You will take part in a combination of activities, such as face-to-face classroom-based sessions, remote learning sessions, work shadowing and online learning, to support your learning and development

If successful, you will be required to undertake training sessions with Avant Skills Academy throughout the length of the apprenticeship.

• Practical, organisational and social skills
• Attention to detail
• A creative aptitude
• A good sense of humour/amicable nature and communication skills whether dealing face to face with clients or speaking over the telephone.
• Reasonable level of literacy and numeracy is required
• Interviews and initial assessments including diagnostics will be carried out with Avant before any Apprenticeship is confirmed.

With experience, you could:

• become a senior stylist or salon manager
• open your own salon
• get qualified to train or assess student hairdressers
• work freelance and rent space in a salon
• use your skills as a hair professional in the theatre, film or television industry
