Skills Experience (Pre-Apprenticeship) - Certificate in Health, Social Care & Children

This qualification provides you with a basic knowledge of working in health, social care and children and young people’s settings.

Completion of this qualification will help you develop knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the health, social care and children and young people’s sectors, including the roles played by workers – from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others. You will also gain knowledge in more specialised areas such as learning disability, sensory loss and mental health.

Internally assessed and externally moderated portfolio of evidence

• Appropriate personal presentation including clothing, hair and personal hygiene.
• Above Entry 3 in English and Maths (GCSE Grade 1 - 3)
• Interviews and initial assessments will be carried out with Avant Skills Academy before any place is confirmed.

This qualification will not lead directly to employment. However, it does provide a starting point for you to decide whether further learning and/or a career in health, social care and/or children and young people’s settings is right for you.

You could progress on to the apprenticeship in Health & Social Care, apprenticeship in Children and Young People’s Workforce or Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
