Course Summary
This course is ideal for learners who are interested in current affairs, the political system and how this affects our everyday lives. As part of this course the student will debate, immerse in current affairs and learn about the world around them.
You could complement your studies with enrichment activities including work experience or our Debating society.
Course Details
The Units are:
- UK Politics: Democracy and participation, politics parties, electoral systems, voting behaviour and the media will all be explored alongside core political ideas.
- UK Government: The constitution, parliament, Prime Minister and relationships between the branches will be studies in this unit.
- Comparative Politics, USA: The US Constitution and federalism, US congress, US presidency, US supreme court and civil rights, democracy and participation, comparative theories.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
This course is assessed by exams.
Entry requirements
GCSE Grade 5 in English with an average points score of 4.9 or above.
