Via AQA's Art & Design: Fine Art specification, students will build on prior knowledge by developing their ideas through investigations informed by selecting and critically analysing sources, refining their ideas as work progresses. They will explore relevant materials, techniques and processes, and record their ideas and observations visually through artwork and written annotation, using appropriate specialist vocabulary. You will investigate art from various cultures and time periods, developing both practical and critical skills, while understanding the balance between process and product.
Independent learning is expected as part of the course, incorporating own interests, passions and hobbies within personal investigation is recommended to help develop a personal response. Students are encouraged to visit galleries and exhibitions relevant to their personal investigation and a passion for the subject is vital.
