Course Summary
You will study a range of subjects such as web design, animation, photography, fine art, painting, printmaking, illustration and storyboard design. This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to help you pick what you’d like to specialise in for your future career.
Alongside amazing facilities, including a printmaking room, 3D workshop, ceramics studio, textile and fashion studio, fine art studio and Mac studio, the creative faculty has amazing events throughout the year.
Course Details
Our in-house School of Art Creative Careers team will guide you through your options for the 36 hours of work experience that is required. Personalised work experience opportunities are available in art galleries, community art groups, design companies and printers as well as in fashion and retail.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Entry requirements
Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process. The following is a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course.
Minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 3 (previously D) or above including Math's and English language OR Minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 3 or above including Math's and English language and relevant subject qualification OR Minimum of Level 1 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English language and Math's at Level 1 and a portfolio of artwork at interview.
Your next steps...
Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby or other other University.
Level 2 Art & Design Diploma students who achieve a Merit Grade at the end of their 1-year Academic Course will progress to Level 3 Art & Design or equivalent with the aim to go into Employment or University. Potential employment prospects include: Tattoo Artist, Character Designer, Illustrator, Fine Art Painter, Graphic Designer, Interior Designer, Fashion Designer, Architecture, Stage Designer, 3D Crafts Maker, Textile Surface Pattern Artist, Community Artist, Art and Design teacher, Ceramics Artist. The list goes on!
