Course Summary
This qualification has been designed to give you an introduction into bricklaying. You will develop your skills, knowledge and understanding so that you can begin a career as a bricklayer in the construction industry or progress to further training. It offers you the opportunity to build transferable skills within our dedicated construction workshop, meaning you do not need to be employed to study this qualification.
Course Details
- Working and communicating effectively in construction trades
- Prepare to carry out bricklaying
- Bricklaying skills
- Clear and store bricklaying tools and equipment
- English and/or Maths (if not achieved at grade 4)
Entry requirements
You will need a full Entry Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, as well as 3 GCSEs at grades 1-2, including Maths and English. A passion for the subject and one satisfactory reference are also required.
Equipment required
Warm clothing and hard-wearing trousers for outdoor/workshop practicals. Hard hat. Steel toe capped boots. Hi-vis bib (optional)
Your next steps...
Higher levels of study are available at the college, such as Level 2 and Level 3 Bricklaying. Work as a qualified bricklayer on a range of different building developments, for established companies or on a self-employed basis, as well as specialist work such as restoration and conservation.
