Are you ready to launch your own business or become a future leader in the world of enterprise? Our Business and Enterprise course at Grimsby Institute equips you with the essential skills and knowledge to succeed in today’s fast-paced business world.
Exploring all aspects of business, from marketing and management to finance and innovation and designed to be practical and inspiring, this course helps you develop a real entrepreneurial mindset while understanding how successful businesses work—from start-up to scale-up.
With strong links to industry, guest speakers, and real-world projects, you’ll gain insights into how businesses operate and grow, preparing you for a variety of career paths in the sector.
Course Details
This qualification aims to develop broader understanding of business and enterprise, providing students with study skills to progress further in the future. Students will look at the basics of business administration, marketing, finance and human resources as well as essential organisation skills necessary for preparing for the world of work and further study. This Level 1 course is combined with Travel and Tourism to give a taster of both concepts as they share characteristics.
Learners will develop skills in communication, teamwork, customer service, research, time management and public speaking. The course is also supplemented with a variety of helpful trips, visits and guest speakers at locations including insightful visits to Hull University and Lincoln University, helping you explore your options for higher education. You’ll have the chance to take part in the exciting Young Enterprise start-up competition, where you can create and pitch your own business idea to a panel of experts.
Trips to destinations like Alton Towers and York combine fun with learning, enhancing your understanding of customer service and event management. Students are also encouraged to suggest their own ideas for trips, ensuring that your learning experience is both engaging and personalised.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
This course will be assessed by portfolio building and continual assessment.

3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above
Your next steps...
Progression from this qualification could be to level 2 in the same subject or other subject area - this may be dependent on gaining GCSE English and/or Maths.
Successful students have gained placements in businesses in the local sector including solicitors and digital marketing agencies. There are a wide range of opportunities in apprenticeships, higher education or employment after your Level 3, and potential career paths could be: Accountant, Management Consultant, Social Media Manager, Financial Analyst, Administration or Human Resources.
