Course Summary

This qualification is designed for learners who want an introduction to business and enterprise and is combined with Travel and Tourism, including a vocational and hands-on element. It has been developed to enthuse and inspire learners about a career in business and enterprise. The qualification will appeal to learners who wish to either set up their own business, move into employment or progress to further study.

Course Details

This qualification aims to develop broader understanding of business and enterprise, providing students with study skills to progress further in the future. Students will look at the basics of business administration, marketing, finance and human resources as well as essential organisation skills necessary for preparing for the world of work and further study. This Level 1 course is combined with Travel and Tourism to give a taster of both concepts as they share characteristics.

Learners will develop skills in communication, teamwork, customer service, research, time management and public speaking. The course is also supplemented with a variety of helpful trips, visits and guest speakers at locations such as Hull or Lincoln University, Young Enterprise Start-Up Business Creation Competition, Alton Towers, York and even Barcelona.


How will it be delivered and assessed?

This course will be assessed by portfolio building and continual assessment.

Entry requirements

No formal entry qualifications but subject to approval from the Foundation Learning Assessment Team.

Your next steps...

Progression from this qualification could be to level 2 in the same subject or other subject area - this may be dependent on gaining GCSE English and/or Math's.

Successful students have gained placements in businesses in the local sector including solicitors and digital marketing agencies. There are a wide range of opportunities in apprenticeships, higher education or employment after your Level 3, and potential career paths could be: Accountant, Management Consultant, Social Media Manager, Financial Analyst, Administration or Human Resources.
