Course Summary
During this course, you will learn everything you need to prepare for a future in games design, including digital graphics, games platforms, designing games stories, 3D modelling and even animation.
You’ll also learn about 3D graphics and applications, which could lead to a job in product design, or maybe you’ll feel inspired and explore animation as a future career path. This course is offered at Level 3, so take a look at our Level 1 & 2 courses such as computing to get you on the right pathway.

Course Details
On this course you will learn:
Character analysis,
Building 2D & 3D games,
2D concept art,
Digital art programming,
Human computer interfaces,
Game narrative design,
Digital graphics,
Designing game stories,
3D modelling,
Animation.
The skills gained on this course aren't just limited to games design; they could also be used in other career areas that require 3D graphics and applications, for example, product and packaging design, architecture and animation, written/verbal communication and teamwork. A previous trip has been to London Comic Con and there have been guest speakers from Ardman Animations, GCHQ, Sony and Microsoft
How will it be delivered and assessed?
When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.
Entry requirements
Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process.
The following is a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course
5 GCSEs grade 4 or above or equivalent including Math's and English language.
Your next steps...
Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby or other other University.
Prospective careers could include: Game Designer, Concept Artist, Software Developer, Games Programmer, Audio Engineer, 3D Artist, Level Designer
A select few of our learner have gone on to work for big companies in the industry, which include: Codemasters, Rockstar, Sumo Digital, Playstation.
