Course Summary

Training in our professional environment, The Graduate Salon, you’ll gain hands-on experience in cutting, colouring, styling and more. Our Salon is open to the public, so you’ll have the chance to work with a wide range of clientele. Whether you aspire to work in a salon, become a freelance stylist or even open your own business, this course lays the foundation for a successful career in hairdressing.Competition can be fierce, but we will make sure you have the skills you need to set yourself apart from the rest of the crowd. And it’s not all about women’s hair – male grooming is an ever-growing industry and experienced, creative barbers are more in demand than ever.


Our curriculum ensures you’re well-versed in the latest industry practices, including sustainability and innovative hair technologies. Hairdressing is one career that cannot be delivered online.

Course Details

Level 2 you could study:

Cutting women’s hair – Develop precision cutting techniques to create a variety of styles

Colouring and lightening hair – Master the art of hair colouring, including highlights and full-colour applications

Cutting men’s hair – Learn contemporary and traditional men’s haircutting methods

Hairdressing reception duties – Understand the administrative aspects of running a salon, including client bookings and customer service

Perming – Gain skills in creating curls and waves through perming techniques

Plaiting and twisting – Learn creative styling methods for various hair types

How will it be delivered and assessed?

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.

Entry requirements

Level 2 – 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, preferably including either English or Maths
