Health and Social Care Level 2

A career in Heath and Social Care is one of the most rewarding ways to spend your working life. Our Health and Social Care team come with a wealth of industry-based experience and you will be prepared for a worthwhile and challenging career.

A fast-paced and changing sector, health and social care professionals need to be proactive and flexible. Essential for our growing and aging population, you will earn about all aspects of care for both adults and children. Covering topics that include life stages, public health, physiological disorder, anatomy and physiology, equality, diversity and rights in care work, values and planning and supporting and protecting adults. There will be classroom learning as well as the chance to get first hand practical experience gaining an insight into working in a hospital in our clinical skills room with hospital beds and life like simulated patients. In addition you will have the opportunity to take part in work experience in appropriate settings. Health and Social Care covers different aspects for children and adults. This course will also include an element of personal development and communication skills.

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.

Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process.
The following is a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course.

2 GCSE at grade 4 or equivalent including Math's or English.

Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby or other other University.

Potential career paths could include: Nursing, Children's Nursing, Paramedic, Care Home Worker, Midwife, Mental Health Nursing.
