Course Details

You’ll have the opportunity to work as part of our professional team, delivering exceptional service and high-quality food from our state-of-the-art facilities, including our very own seafood school. Our training kitchen plays a key role in preparing dishes for Samphire Restaurant where you have real customers, giving you real-world experience in a dynamic environment. It's not just about cooking because you will get the chance to be trained in front-of-house and table service roles as well. Alongside the training in everything from fish, meat and poultry to baking, patisserie and cake decorating, you'll get the opportunity to be part of our team, giving first-class service and food from our state-of-the-art facilities including the new training kitchen which will be used to produce dishes for the Gallery Restaurant.


How will it be delivered and assessed?

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.

Entry requirements

Level 1 – 3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above

Your next steps...

Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby or other other University.

Potential career paths include: Chef; Restaurant manager; Catering manager; Food scientist; Food product development; Waiting staff.
