Course Summary
The main aim of the A-level Drama and Theatre course is to develop the student’s ability to recognise and understand the inter-relationship between performer, designer and director. Students will learn how performance texts can be interpreted and performed and that texts may represent a range of social, historical and cultural contexts. The course encourages students to develop skills to become effective theatre makers, alongside transferable skills such as team working, confidence communication and problem solving.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
One exam and two practical examinations.
Component 1 – (Non-Exam Assessment) - Devising a performance (40%)
Component 2 – (Non-Exam Assessment) – Group performance and monologue (20%)
Component 3 – 2hrs 30mins - Theatre Makers in Practice (40%)
Entry requirements
Our entry requirements are as follows:
• 5 x GCSEs at minimum Grade 4
• GCSE Grade 4 in English and Mathematics
• GCSE Grade 5 in an academically relevant qualification to the chosen A-level subject
