Course Summary
The Politics A-level course allows students to explore three key topics. The ‘Politics in the UK’ module sees students study a range of structural aspects of British politics, such as the way in which parliament works, as well as practical politics such as the importance of pressure groups. In ‘Politics in the USA’ students study the structure of politics in the USA, such as the power of the president, as well as practical politics such as the importance of decisions made by the Supreme Court. In the Political Ideas’ module students study political ideologies including: conservatism, socialism and feminism.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Three exams of two hours each.
Paper 1 - Politics of the UK (33%)
Paper 2 - Politics of the USA (33%)
Paper 3 – Political Ideas (33%)
Entry requirements
Our entry requirements are as follows:
• 5 x GCSEs at minimum Grade 4
• GCSE Grade 4 in English and Mathematics
• GCSE Grade 5 in an academically relevant qualification to the chosen A-level subject
