Course Summary
The Applied Certificate in Criminology explores a range of units to better understand why people commit crime and the role of the court system. In year one, students study the reporting of crimes and how campaigns are used to elicit change. Students also explore a number of theories that have been developed to explain criminal behaviour. In year two, students study the process of criminal investigations in addition to learning about how the criminal justice system operates.

Two exams and two controlled assessments.
Unit 1 - Changing awareness of crime- Coursework 25%
Unit 2 - Criminological Theories- Examination 25%
Unit 3 - Crime Scene to Court Room- Coursework 25%
Unit 4 - Crime and Punishment- Examination 25%
Entry requirements
Our entry requirements are as follows:
• 5 x GCSEs at minimum Grade 4
• GCSE Grade 4 in English and Mathematics
• GCSE Grade 5 in an academically relevant qualification to the chosen A-level subject
